LAGOS ASSEMBLY AD-HOC COMMITTEE ON DREDGING VISITS BADORE, OJO SHORELINES.
The Lagos Assembly Ad Hoc Committee on dredging continued the full fledged inspection of illegal dredging in the State on Wednesday with the Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure, Mr. Ahmed Kabiru Abdullahi and other Staff of the Ministry.
On the bid to estimate the true picture of dredging activities in the area; the Committee visited the shoreline of Badore and Ojo.
The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Victor Akande during the inspection observed that most of the dredgers are working illegally and have taken over the lagoon.
He further noted that the manual dredgers who are the category C working at the Ojo jetty shoreline, are also working illegally without approval from the State Government.
He added that there has been lots of seemingly damaged dredging machines abandoned in the lagoon which makes navigation difficult for boat riders due to the narrowing.
The Inspection exercise is therefore to continue next week Wednesday.
Other Members who were present are:Hon. Mojisola Alli Maculay,Hon.Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, Hon. Ajani Owolabi.
