
LAGOS ASSEMBLY PASSES PUBLIC PROCUREMENT AGENCY (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2020 and; LAGOS SPORTS COMMISSION (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2021 INTO LAW
Lagos State House of Assembly during Plenary on Thursday passed a Bill for a Law to establish the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (Amendment) Bill 2020 into Law.
The Law which was read a third time is set to strengthen the Agency and the Procurement sector, thereby warns any person(s), company or authority that receives mobilization fee for a proposed service/works and absconds or does not carry out the services/works commensurate with the fee received, commits an offence and therefore outrightly becomes liable on conviction to two years imprisonment or a fine equivalent to the fee received or both.
Also today, after its third reading; the House passed the Lagos State Sports Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2021, a Bill for a Law to amend the Lagos State Sports Commission Law, 2017 and to promote Youths and Sports Development in Lagos State.
This law is set to maximize the sporting capabilities in the State in order to provide opportunities for youths who are eager to realize their potential through sporting activities at the grassroots level.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Obasa directed the Acting Clerk of the House, Barr. Olalekan Onafeko to send clean copies of the passed bills to Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for assent.
