LAGOS ASSEMBLY SCREENS GOVERNOR’S NOMINEE FOR STATE’S AUDITOR GENERAL OFFICE
Lagos Assembly at today plenary session screened the Governor nominee for Auditor General, Mrs. Adesumbo Idiat Adederin, a chartered accountant.
The nominee who has been acting in the capacity pending the confirmation of the House is a Higher National Diploma holder in Accounting at the Yaba College of Technology. She had served at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and presently a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN). Mrs. Adederin joined the Civil Service of the Lagos State Government in 1994.
She was scrutinized and cross-examined on various issues by the lawmakers ranging from forensic auditing and her activities between 1987 to 1994 which were not mentioned in her curriculum vitae.
Lagos Assembly, however, frowned at her acting capacity as the Auditor General without confirmation by the House of Assembly and despite her not being the most senior though a Governor nominee. Mrs. Adederin responded to the issues raised to the best of her ability.
The House is yet to approve her nomination.
