Your Success At The Primary Elections Is Not A Meal Ticket -Obasa

Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has informed his colleagues, who won primary elections to see their success as a call for service and not meal tickets.

He disclosed this during plenary on Monday while reacting to the just concluded primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.

The Speaker, while commending the party and National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Tinubu said, “This is not the time to jubilate because it is Not Yet Uhuru for us since we are going to face general elections.

“This is not the time to celebrate, but rather you should go back and engage your constituents. Your return tickets are not for meal but a call to service,” he said.

The lawmaker also called for a review of past stakeholders meeting reports that held simultaneously in all the 40 constituencies, which were submitted to the executive.

It was unanimously agreed that the past reports submitted to the executive must be reviewed, while the reports of last year’s stakeholders meeting should be sent to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for its inclusion in the 2019 budget.

Some of the lawmakers, who contributed to the debates on the primary elections of the APC, hailed Asiwaju Tinubu for adopting direct primary and Rt. Hon. Obasa for the structure that led to their success.

Hon. Lanre Oshun, Hon. Bisi Yusuf, Hon. Desmond Elliot, and Hon. Sanai Agunbiade among others appreciated the Speaker, and called on the executive to complete all the road projects in their constituencies.

Hon. Rasheed Makinde, representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 2, appealed to the executive to complete all the abandoned projects in his local government.

The House later passed a bill for a law to amend the Lagos State Health Scheme Law 2018 and for Connected Purposes into law and ordered the Clerk of the House to send the report to the Governor for his assent.

The House therefore adjourned sitting to Tuesday 16th of October, 2018.
